Valeska Hykel’s expressive monotypes work at the boundaries of painting and print. Painting directly onto silkscreens, she explores a series of material interventions to the traditional screenprinting process. Delving beyond the first pull of the print, the resulting images degrade, leaving patinas that evoke the delicate weight of memory and time.
Valeska has had recent solo exhibitions at BSMT gallery and Print Club London. Group shows include Royal Society of Arts, Modern Art Oxford, Chelsea Design Centre, Unit 1 Gallery and the previous four years at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. She was Artist in Residence at Print Club London, invited to contribute to AOP Gallery charity auctions and was a winner of the Delphian Open Call 2025.
