Stewart Taylor is a Devon-based printmaker whose work explores landscape, ecology, and material process through monoprint and mixed media.
His ongoing Tree Portraits project comprises almost 500 monoprints, examining humanity’s disconnected relationship with trees and the wider natural world. Alongside his studio practice, Stewart teaches gelliplate printmaking and has written recently on this subject for both Printmaking Today and 'Printmaking: A Step-by-Step Studio Guide' (Jenny Mason-Gunning/Herbert Press/Bloomsbury).
He was the recipient of the 2024 Creativepool Artist of the Year award and has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally. His work is held in the V&A Museum Print Collection and the Jyväskylä Art Museum, Finland, following its acquisition from the 16th Graphica Creativa Print Triennale.
Stewart has been selected for the previous eight editions of the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, appearing in the Director’s Picks in 2022 and 2024, and as one of seven artists chosen for the fair’s 'Ones to Watch' selection in 2025. His work has also been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the National Original Print Exhibition, where he received the Great Art Prize in 2018.
After graduating in Fine Art from UCA Farnham, he joined Artichoke Print Workshop and then East London Printmakers.
