Sana Obaid
Sana Obaid is a Glasgow-based interdisciplinary artist originally from Pakistan. She graduated with Distinction from the MFA programme at The Glasgow School of Art in 2024 as a Saltire Scholar, where she was awarded the GSA Chairman's Medal for Best in the School of Fine Art and was nominated for the GSA Foulis Medal. Her recent recognitions include the Art Lab Women in Print Residency Award at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, the Visual Arts Scotland + Bothy Residency Award, and the Gilbert Bayes Sculptors Award. Trained in miniature painting at the National College of Arts, Lahore, Obaid now works across painting, printmaking, sculpture, and performance.
Her practice is rooted in love, healing, and a longing for peace in a world shaped by conflict and destruction. As a mother, she reflects on the vulnerability and future of children, transforming grief, tenderness, and quiet hope into material form. Through contemplative, process-led making, she creates works that hold fragility and resilience in balance, inviting moments of reflection, empathy, and the possibility of renewal.
