The landscapes Rebecca depicts are recorded with charcoal, ink and photography. These elements are then collaged to resemble the recorded landscape but from a different perspective of place. The compositions often evolve into psychological landscapes. The metal plate becomes a site of translation, where drawing, collage and acid transform. The resulting works invite the viewer into a space of memory and abstraction in which the recognisable softens into ambiguous topographies with dream like surfaces, and geometric structures that serve as characters suggesting inner geographies and relationships that resist complete articulation.
Rebecca Holmes is a multidisciplinary artist based between Peterborough and London working under the disciplines of printmaking, drawing and sculpture. She is works with East London Printmakers and is a Printmaking Fellow of City and Guilds.
