Patrick Suhm
£0.00
Patrick Suhm is a photographer based in Berlin. His images move between public space and radical intimacy, between documentary observation and something less easily placed. Recurring motifs run through the work: displaced creatures, psychological thresholds, distance and longing, the moment a scene tips into reverie.
Suhm works intuitively; the photographs are made spontaneously and understood slowly, their associations emerging in the edit. What holds them together is a documentary discipline — nothing staged, nothing added — applied to moments that behave as if they were.
The prints shown here are standalone editions drawn from recent bodies of work: a woman feeding the crows of her Berlin neighborhood, a firework igniting on an empty woodland path, a tropical bird traveling in the underground, two figures merely a breath apart in green light, a bath taken at 4:55 a.m., and a meadow dissolving under drifting poplar seed.
Suhm trained in Sprechkunst at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and came to photography self-taught. His work has recently been recognised by the Brussels Street Photography Festival (finalist).
