Natasha Norman is a visual artist whose practice explores the quiet threshold between observation and contemplation through the material language of printmaking. Her works emerge from an intuitive engagement with landscape, where stones, water and light become points of encounter with rhythms and structures that exceed human time. Rather than depicting nature, Natasha seeks to reveal the hidden relationships that shape our experience of it. Working with watercolour-inked woodblocks, printed woodgrain and lithographic brushwork, she embraces the slow, tactile nature of printmaking as both process and philosophy.
Natasha holds an MFA from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town and has undertaken residencies in Japan focused on Mokuhanga, traditional Japanese woodblock printing and washi paper. She has exhibited internationally, including in New York, Japan, London, and Cape Town, and has participated in significant group exhibitions and art fairs. In 2019, she co-founded Mokuhanga Kai to promote knowledge and access to this non-toxic printmaking practice in South Africa. Her work is held in major public and private collections, and she is also active as a lecturer and independent writer.
