Nanette Wallace
£0.00
Nanette Wallace’s gestural artwork is created as an emotional response to the world around her with a deep connection to nature, bodies of water and the nuance of light.
While she often has specific intentions when she starts making her work, she finds the monotype process vital for working in the moment. Leftover ink from previous monotypes, called the ghost, link successive images that either extend the previous idea or embrace a new train of thought. Through this process of iteration she is able to consider a wider range of influences and a deeper connection to the work with each pull.
In her recent work, Nanette’s ethereal figures search for calm amongst the noise of human existence through private moments of contemplation and solitude that connect, as well as distance themselves from the viewer.
Nanette lives in Portland, Oregon USA and graduated from Oregon State University with a BFA. She has been featured widely in solo, invitational, and juried exhibitions. Her work is held in private and public collections including Jordan Schnitzer's. Nanette has been featured in numerous publications including Print Magazine, Pressing Matters, The Printmaking Ideas Book by Lucy McGeown, and Pratiquer LA Gravure, sold at the Louvre bookstore.
