I am a printmaker and mixed media artist. My work is represented in Scottish public and private collections and I have won a number of awards for my printmaking.
My current practice is place based and focussed on exploring peoples relationship with the natural and built world around them. I mainly gather visual material through drawing, painting and photography of the environment close to my home; the landscapes and plants around me in Angus, my own garden and the cities in Scotland. I enjoy exploring stories and myths and repurposing these in my work to present new narratives about the world around me.
Over the past couple of years, I have created polymer gravures and monoprints inspired by European 17th century Still Life Vanitas painting. In the same way that objects in 17th century still life painting are loaded with meaning, this theme provided me with a visual structure to explore environmental degradation and climate change in Scotland.
