Fabiola works primarily with landscape and still life subject matter. Her still life work is often more graphic in style, employing shape, pattern, hard edges and block colours, while landscape work can lean toward romantic and impressionistic with a network of varied mark-marking and subtle layering of colour which is intended to be immersive.
Current work, including the 'Enigma' series, play with positive and negative space, allowing objects to be defined by their absence. These void areas reference a sense of loss or longing, remembering loved ones who have passed or moved away. Other recent projects include work about road signs and journeys.
Fabiola’s work starts with an idea, usually based on a sketch, but is not meticulously planned. She allows the images to evolve and responds to the prints as they develop. She is interested in the way a narrative emerges from the subconscious, which may not have been the initial intention, but becomes more evident as the body of work develops.
In recent years Fabiola’s work has been selected for the Discerning Eye, Small But Mighty, WCPF, South Downs Open, The Spring Open and Brighton Open. Her work has also featured in Pressing Matters Magazine.
