Evangeline Morris’ intaglio-led practice investigates landscape as an active archive, tracing the shifting dialogue between memory, place, and land.
Morris uses extended drawing and print practice to explore a rediscovery of place in our modern situation. She is drawn to land’s capacity to store history in its fragments, approaching each site through walking, drawing, and writing. Understanding land’s geological, geographical, and human memory is central to her printmaking, and her final works hold the significance of place and her experience within it.
Her site specific projects span the River Thames, South London estuarine land, West Wales primitave mining landscapes, and Scottish peatland with the Crichton Carbon Centre. Intaglio printmaking anchors her practice; its malleable surfaces, embedded with information, mirror the shifting dialogue between memory and place.
Morris graduated from The University of the Arts London in 2022 with an MA in Fine Art Print. In 2022, she received the Clifford Chance Postgraduate Printmaking purchase prize.
Morris has exhibited extensively since 2018, with highlights including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, IMPACT 12, and several editions of the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
Her work is held in both private and public collections, notably the Clifford Chance contemporary print collection.
