Emily Kirby’ practice moves between an exploration into mark making and form and playful narratives around female connection and intimacy.
Her etchings often elicit a distinct sense of place and environment in which her subjects dwell. Having lived and worked in different countries, Kirby’s work exhibits connectivity and a sensitive appreciation of people and places she knows well, and frequently returns to in her work.
Having worked predominantly as a painter for that past twenty years, learning the process of etching has greatly enriched her over all practice and how she now approaches constructing a body of work.
Emily is currently represented by Columbia Road Gallery and Wondering People in London and Otomys Gallery in Melbourne.
She has had a recent etching included in a group show Odyssey at Hastings Contemporary in Sussex.
