Australian-born artist Danielle Creenaune works across printmaking and drawing, specialising in lithography. Her practice investigates the relationship between landscape, ecology, memory, and lived experience. After eighteen years living and working in London and Barcelona, she returned in 2019 to Wollongong on Dharawal Country, where her experience of place continues to shape an exploration of landscape, memory, and perception.
Stones of Passage is a stone lithograph printed on Kitakata Japanese paper, derived from a rainforest creek near the artist's home. Tracing the winding creek bed below a cascading waterfall, the work suggests the quiet rhythm of walking through a landscape shaped by rounded river stones and intricate networks of climbing liana vines. Amid this entangled vegetation, a natural passage gradually reveals itself, opening towards light and spaciousness. This is a metaphor of sorts, where moments of insight and clarity are found by moving patiently through chaos and complexity.
Creenaune has exhibited nationally and internationally, receiving awards including the René Carcan International Printmaking Award (Belgium). Her lithographs have been selected for the International Print Triennial Krakow and the Biennale Internationale d'Estampe Contemporaine de Trois-Rivières, Canada. She holds Bachelor and Master of Art degrees from the University of New South Wales, Sydney.
