Chris Orr is an artist who lives and works in London. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1967 he has made paintings and prints, exhibiting worldwide. He was Professor of Printmaking at the RCA 1998-2008 and is a Royal Academician. Central to his work have been series of prints with themes and stories such as The Life of W. Blake, Chris Orr’s John Ruskin and a series of satires made during lockdown. His work aims to provide, intrigue, questions and stimulate the viewer.
He regards his narrative work close to the book and advises ‘reading’ as well as looking at his pictures.
Technically all his work derives from his drawing practice and spans etching, engraving, lithography and silkscreen. He has published over 400 editions of prints.
