Charlotte Cooper’s practice is an ongoing investigation into complex relational bonds - between humans, and between species - across time. Working at the intersection of art and psychoanalysis, her research draws on the most ancient aspects of ourselves, examining how our earliest encounters with the external world shape the development of the self and continue to inform our existence.
Archival material plays a central role in Charlotte's work. She use’s it to distil these broad concerns into specific, intimate human experiences, treating the archive as a lens through which wider relational and psychic structures come into focus. She creates her work using traditional printmaking techniques and specialises in monotype printing, lithography and etching, which she combines to create large-scale, sculptural installations. Her practice also extends into digital animation and artist’s books.
Charlotte graduated with a Print MA from The Royal College of Art in 2023. She has just closed her first solo exhibition held at Hogarth’s House and developed through a year-long residency with the institution. She has exhibited work internationally, most recently at The Millennium Film Workshop, Brooklyn in November 2025. She has work held in the V&A, RCA and Hogarth’s House permanent collections.
