Charlie Evaristo-Boyce is a screenprint artist and painter based in Margate. For over a decade he has been experimenting and building a distinctive practice that sits at the intersection of printmaking, painting and personal narrative.
His work is rooted in screenprinting but frequently expands onto large-scale canvases. He combines photographic imagery, hand-drawn elements and West African textile patterns with oil pastel and acrylic washes to create layered, textured surfaces. Recent works such as Return to the Old School and Lekki Lovers explore memory, diaspora, and inherited histories, particularly his Nigerian heritage. The photos used in this series where taken by him last year in Nigeria.
Charlie’s practice is process-led. He often prints canvases in multiple sections reassembling them together and allowing the physical act of printing and the materiality of the surface to become part of the story. His bold graphic language draws from post-pop aesthetics while maintaining a deeply personal and reflective core.
Alongside his studio practice, he has exhibited across the UK, completed the Turps Margate mentoring programme, and regularly shares his creative process with a wide online audience.
