Caitlin Laing (born 2001) is a British artist based in London, UK, currently studying MA Fine Art: Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts. Previously, she studied BA (Hons) Illustration at Falmouth University.
She uses printmaking to explore themes of landscape and environment, considering the human relationship to the natural world. Through different print processes, she aims to make work that treats often overlooked/under appreciated green spaces with a reverence and respect, as a way to reconnect with our environment. She hopes her imagery can be places to reflect, being ambiguous enough to remind the viewer of a personal experience in nature, and of home.
Currently, her printmaking manifests in photo-etching and mokulito (Wood Lithography) while studying at Camberwell. She is interested in the way the various stages of the print process and the physical act of etching breaks down and excavates imagery, creating new channels and worlds to be absorbed by.
