In her latest body of work, contemporary British artist Anne Davison presents a compelling study of spatial harmony, translating the intricate, subconscious complexities of the human condition into bold, structural geometry.
Working through an evolving process of mixed-media paper collage, she begins by generating unpredictable, intuitive textures, patterns and geometric shapes using traditional printmaking methods such as linocuts, monoprints, and screen printing. She then translates these raw, spontaneous elements into disciplined, balanced final compositions. Her bold, geometric forms mirror the legacy of iconic twentieth-century abstractionists such as Wilhelmina Barnes-Graham and Eduardo Chillida. Through this manipulation of form, proportion, and tonal weight, Davison captures the universal tension between structural order and psychological freedom.
About the Artist: Anne Davison received her BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles from Middlesex University in 1985.
Davison has recently had work accepted to the Royal Society of Printmakers Small and Mighty exhibition at The Bankside Gallery and has exhibited in the inPRINT printmakers exhibition at The Horsebridge Gallery Whitstable, The Printworks Festival, Farnham, the For the Love of Print Show in Faversham and Clerkenwell Design Week.
