Amale Freiha Khlat is a British/Lebanese artist based in London working across print, sculpture, painting, video and sound. Her art contemplates the theatre of the world through scenes and windows, playing with viewers’ senses, reminding them that looking is a relational act of selection and exclusion.
Recurring figures include refugees, clouds, forests and carnival performers, staged and at times rendered invisible, reflecting on how visibility and concealment are politically and culturally constructed. Drawing on graphic design training and an engagement with literary and material history, her work moves between the conceptual concerns of printmaking and the spatial qualities of installation and performance.
In 2025 and 2024, her cyanotype print from Blueprint of the Skies was shown at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, and in 2024 her sculpture Forest Reconstruction, Following Harmonic Proportion was shown at the Royal Society of Sculptors Summer Show. In 2019, the British Museum acquired her print series The Perilous Journey III for its Contemporary and Modern Middle Eastern Art Collection. In 2018 she received the Gilbert Bayes Award and a solo exhibition at William Benington Gallery’s sculpture park, Fulmer. In 1995 she won the LVMH Young Artist Award, exhibiting at the Carrousel du Louvre.
