Alison Lutz uses printmaking and drawing to explore the expressive powers of mark, texture, color, and transparency within themes of loss, grief, and healing.
Lutz’s current body of work ATTENDANT LOSS (2020-present) is an ongoing reaction to the powerful forces of loss and grief, and the growth that occurs during healing. Using floral imagery, layers of transparent colors, and the immediacy of monotype printmaking, this work is a living record of the tides of evolving grief, unexpected growth, joy, and meaning following tragedy.
Lutz graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth in 2011 with a Master of Fine Art in Drawing. Her work has been exhibited widely in the Pacific Northwest of the US and her ATTENDANT LOSS series was presented in two recent solo exhibitions: at the AB Gallery at Portland State University in 2023 and at the Forsberg Art Gallery at Lower Columbia Community College in 2025.
