Before focusing on her artistic practice, Hsieh worked in architectural design on NHS mental health facilities, including forensic psychiatric units, dementia care facilities, and OCD treatment units. This experience informs her ongoing interest in psychological space, control, and the unseen structures shaping human experience, and continues to influence her writing.
