Lidija Antanasijević | Zest For Life
Etching, Photogravure
Edition of 5
Dimensions (WxH): 240 x 40cm
As a Serbian-born, London-based artist, Lidija Antanasijević is interested in exploring the meanings that emerge at the crossroads of conflicting cultures, identities, memories, truths and forms of belonging, with which a geopolitical migrant striving to find some ‘inner balance’ must inevitably come to terms. Her ideas originate in abstract before developing and changing during the creative process to become ‘other’, as she taps into her inner self, processing and sifting through feelings, thoughts and experiences.
Three prints ‘Inner Mediation’, ‘Flash’ and ‘Focus’ are emotional statements reflecting on a need to be seen, heard and acknowledged as an individual beyond ‘migrant’.
The piece ‘Zest For life’ best describes her ‘self’ and her attitude to life in face of all adversities.
Lidija Antanasijević received both her BA (1988) and MA (1991) from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Belgrade, Serbia. In 2021 she was elected Academician at the Royal West of England Academy.
She has been continuously exhibited both nationally and internationally for forty years.
Her work is critically acclaimed and is included in many public collections both nationally and internationally, including V&A, Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, and Guanlan Print Base, China.
