Cheen Fuen is a London-based artist working at the intersection of botanical photography and printmaking. His practice examines the taxonomy of hybrid plants as a lens through which to explore cultural mixing, displacement, and the persistence of living things in unfamiliar soils. Deeply inspired by his mother's garden and her technique of propagating cuttings, grafting stems from one plant onto another to coax new growth, he carries this method into his studio practice, assembling flowers gathered from incompatible climates into arrangements that horticulture would deem impossible, yet which feel utterly convincing on the page. His work asks what it means for a plant, or a person, to thrive somewhere they were never meant to grow. Different Roots presents three such impossible bouquets, suspended against a neutral ground as though caught between scientific classification and poetic belonging. In each arrangement, the wild and the precious, the cultivated and the untameable, exist side by side without hierarchy. Cheen Fuen's work has been shown in group exhibitions across the UK and Europe.
