Lithography On Fabriano Unica Edition of 3 Dimensions (WxH): 50 x 60cm
In her printmaking Helene Endlich explores internal images through spontaneous drawing processes to question biographical memory.
In her series lago dei ricordi, of which verso la vetta is exhibited here, she explored memories from her childhood in northern Italy. The intuitive drawings follow fleeting images derived from episodic memory, trying to capture atmospheres. The image remains unclear questioning the possibility of re-immersing onesself into past worlds.
In her series disegni in spazio she takes lithographic printmaking on another level to further explore biographical memory. By scattering the motif across the paperstrip, she creates the impression of a continuous, yet fragmented flow while also dissolving the categories of original and copy.
The most recent series im fluss departs from explicitly investigating memory to focus on present inner states and the sense of internal motion. The work shown here (dialog im fluss) comprises of two prints mounted onto each other.
Helene Endlich graduated from Universität der Künste Berlin in 2018. She has exhibited since 2014 in a number of independent shows and larger mixed exhibitions. After moving to Mannheim in 2020 she has set up a public lithographic printing workshop and continued to exhibit.
