Women wrapping themselves in a sarong as they leave a place, or perhaps a conversation, unexpectedly become the dancing figures on a Roman funerary monument. Elsewhere, a solitary female figure blocks the pictorial space, looming in contre-jour light, her presence both monumental and elusive.
Everyday gestures become archetypes, suspended between memory, mythology and lived experience.
All of these works unfold against the inexorable horizon of the sea, the enduring theatre of mythical tales, where personal histories and collective memory converge.
