Sue Jarman is an image maker and printmaker with a spontaneous documentary style of working. Observational drawing, storytelling and personal responses to people and places are what drive and inspire her work. Her favourites being capturing figures to a soundtrack of conversations and unfolding narratives, a process she likes to call ‘visual eavesdropping’, and intuitively responding to a specific environments or landscapes.
Her drawing and printmaking are reciprocally interconnected, helping her to explore, consolidate and produce resolved outcomes, working predominately with lithography, drypoint, collagraph and monotype.
An important part of her practice is knowledge sharing. This currently includes teaching drawing and painting at North Herts College, running printmaking workshops at Digswell Arts Trust, undertaking residencies and embracing skills sharing opportunities. Sue has a BA in Art and Design and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Greenwich.
Recent highlights include receiving a 2025 Bursary from The Artists Information Company for her printmaking practice and being featured in ‘Alternative Lithography’ a book by Scarlett Rebecca, published by The Crowood Press 2025
