Carborundum And Monotype Edition of Dimensions (WxH): 40 x 40cm
Ann Edwards (UK, born 1957) trained at St Albans School of Art (1975-1976) and the University of Reading (1976-1980). After raising a family she became a counsellor and psychotherapeutic supervisor whilst maintaining a part time painting practice. Her interest in printmaking started developing about 10 years ago and has become more and more important to her as an artist, and for her sense of well being. Her work is usually associated with memories of the experience of particular land and sea scapes. Ann currently makes mostly monotypes, often using carborundum, and finds enjoyment in the spontaneity and creativity of this process, liking the unpredictability of the results it gives. She explores combinations of layering two or more plates using combinations of colour, line, texture and form. Boundaries, edges and in-between spaces interest her. The prints are made for the pleasure of the making, seeing what emerges and can be taken forward.
