Living and working as a printmaker in Mallorca, I’m surrounded by a landscape that constantly feeds into my work. The island’s rocky coastline, dry stone walls, worn paths, and twisted olive trees are full of simple shapes and rich textures. Wind, sea, and time leave their marks on everything. I’m drawn to these natural patterns and surfaces, using them as a starting point for prints that reflect the quiet, rugged character of the place I call home.
An enthusiastic hiker, Leo often begins with drawings made directly from the landscape during walks through the Tramuntana mountain range in Malorca. These sketches are further worked on and later transformed in his studio through the physical and intuitive process of linocut. Each image is carved by hand into lino and printed entirely by hand on Kitakata, a handmade Japanese paper known for its warmth, delicacy, and strength.
