Etching With Aquatint Edition of 50 Dimensions (WxH): 50 x 40cm
Chris Otley produces etchings with aquatint (as well as crisp and meticulous graphite works on paper). He has an ongoing interest in coastal landscapes and industrial structures, and is currently working on a project focused on the Farne Islands, documenting National Trust rangers in their complex work managing the breeding colonies of puffins and other seabirds.
He grew up in Northumberland, studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art (BA 2005, MA 2006), and now lives and works in landlocked Oxford.
He has regularly exhibited both independently and in group exhibitions. Recent highlights include his solo show ‘Coast’ at Magdalen Road Studios, Oxford; Woolwich Contemporary (2025); the Bainbridge Open (2025, 2023); the International Original Print Exhibition at the Bankside Gallery (2024); The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2019, 2021, 2022, 2024); and the Society of Graphic Fine Arts at the Mall Gallery (2022). He has been awarded residencies at Cill Rialaig, County Kerry (2019) and Outlandia, Glen Nevis (2017), organised by London Fieldworks and the Nevis Landscape Partnership.
