Xinyun Lu is a London-based printmaker completing an MA Fine Art: Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts, UAL. Her practice explores chronic pain and bodily memory through the physical language of woodcut. She uses carving, pressure, repetition and the resistance of the block to translate internal sensations into visible marks. In her large-scale unique woodcut, The Shape Pain Makes (2026), dense carved lines form a body that appears compressed, entangled and continually reshaped by pain. The work received the East London Printmakers Award 2026 at the Camberwell College of Arts MA Printmaking Degree Show. Through scale and material intensity, Lu invites viewers to encounter pain as an accumulated physical experience rather than a simple illustration.
