All Susan Daltry's work begins with a journey, an exploration of unknown terrain or sea. She is interested in how the physical action of exploring through diving or walking, stores up memories, sensations of place that can be directed into large scale prints. She is interested in physical geography and fractals; water, rock, clouds, trees; the shifting landscape. Prints included started from observations of water forms in flux; changing tides and water levels, the action of the longshore drift in North Norfolk. She is fascinated by links between art and science; and finding meaning in abstract forms.
Susan Daltry grew up between the Solway Estuary and Northern Fells in Cumbria and consequently making connections to the natural environment through her artistic practice has always been important to her. She studied for an MA in Fine Art in Barcelona, via the Winchester School of Art. Since then she has shown at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition and various galleries in UK and Spain. One of her ambitious projects was creating a series of 10 large scale works responding to travels through Egypt and the Sinai, produced for the Townhouse Gallery in Cairo and sponsored by The British Council.
