Sara Kelly | The Dutch School #4

£350.00
Print On Hahnemühle William Turner
Edition of 10
Dimensions (WxH): 36 x 40cm

Sara Kelly explores drawing and painting in relation to other media through a dialogue between 2D and 3D forms. Through photographic prints and object-based constructions, her work examines the relationship between material presence and illusion. The Dutch School is an ongoing photographic project made from reproductions found in a National Gallery catalogue. Fragments of interiors, figures and still life are reconfigured into unstable environments that imply narrative yet remain uncertain. The photographic print becomes the final site of transformation: a surface where sculpture, assemblage and photography collapse into a single image. The print is not a document of the assemblage but a new object in itself, preserving the temporary construction while distancing it from its material origins. Echoes of earlier projects, such as Lonely City, persist, where multiple realms appear to collide and a quiet melancholy pervades the images. The work asks how spaces carry memory and how photography simultaneously materialises and dematerialises the spaces it depicts. Kelly holds an MA in Design for Interactive Media. Kelly has participated in various group shows, including The Feminist Library London, Testbed Gallery, London, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London and a solo show at Five Years, London. Shortlisted for Athens Photo Festival 2026.
