Pierre-Antoine Martin is a French artist born in Bordeaux in 1990. His practice is rooted in printmaking and shaped by a strong engagement with intaglio and relief techniques. After entering the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Brussels in 2012, he joined the Engraving department, where he developed a technical understanding of printed arts, particularly etching and aquatint. He later continued his studies at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, where he completed a Master’s degree in Fine Art in 2018.
Following his graduation, Martin was awarded a one-year artist residency in the university’s printmaking studio. He then worked as an engraver at Thumbprint Editions, a professional contemporary printmaking studio, producing intaglio and relief prints for numerous contemporary artists.
Martin’s work explores the survival of myth through images drawn from fantastic and symbolist traditions. His engravings question the role of mythopoetic narratives in contemporary society, creating hybrid imaginary worlds suspended between postmodernity and landscapes.
He currently lives, works and teaches art in Dordogne, France.
