Bea Denton's creative practice explores ideas around memorial and remembrance, reincarnating the lost and found. A collector and archivist of anonymous lives, she pushes the technical and physical boundaries of photography and printmaking through ritualistic processes to produce enigmatic, dislocated images, challenging the nature of perception, belief and memory to seek a deeper resonance.
In her latest and evolving bodies of work, Denton has re-examined her extensive archive of memorial portraits; the tombstone photographs of hundreds of people found in cemeteries across Europe. Her aim is a pursuit of an inherent essence in the portraits; the soul, and the untold stories of the everyday. In this iteration, the interrogated images are again reimagined as Polaroid i-Type prints, some revealed as diptychs and triptychs, elevating the images to a new status of 'object-print' in an intertwining of analogue and contemporary process.
Denton graduated from UAL with Distinction in MA Fine Art Printmaking.
