Alice Hsieh is a Brazilian artist of Taiwanese heritage with a background in architecture. Working across analogue and digital photography, video, and poetry, her practice works through minimal forms and the subtle distortions embedded in perception, focusing on overlooked, visually insignificant moments where quiet tension surfaces, and tracing how human presence shapes and attempts to dominate nature.
Before focusing on her artistic practice, Hsieh worked in architectural design on NHS mental health facilities, including forensic psychiatric units, dementia care facilities, and OCD treatment units. This experience informs her ongoing interest in psychological space, control, and the unseen structures shaping human experience, and continues to influence her writing.
