My practice explores the intersection of analogue image-making, memory, and transformation through hand-crafted photographic processes. Working from film to silver gelatin print and ultimately to photogravure on Somerset paper, I am interested not only in the image itself but in the traces of its making. Each stage leaves an imprint, revealing photography as both a physical and poetic process. Born in eastern Ukraine in 1991, I hold a Master’s degree in Languages and the History of Western Literature. My background in literature continues to shape my visual language, informing my engagement with cultural, philosophical, and symbolic narratives. Following displacement caused by the Russian invasions of Ukraine in 2014 and 2022, I settled in London, where I deepened my commitment to analogue photography, darkroom practice, photogravure, and alternative printing techniques. Through these processes, I investigate how images form, shift, and endure over time, asking what ultimately survives: the original moment, its material trace, or the memories and meanings carried forward through successive acts of transformation.
