I am interested in the inconspicuous, the familiar, and the assumed known; through close observation, these ordinary elements reveal a coexistence of the mundane and the wondrous.
Patterns and repetitions found within interiors and architectural spaces are recurring sources of inspiration. These include the rhythm of scaffolding surrounding buildings, tiled surfaces on floors and walls, and decorative motifs found on paper and textiles. By isolating and reinterpreting these visual fragments, I draw attention to their subtle beauty and significance.
My images are created through a process of careful and repetitive hand-cutting, in which selected areas are removed from the surface of the paper. This act of removal is central to the work, with the repetitive nature of cutting becoming an essential part of the making process. The resulting shadows form an additional layer within each piece, contributing significantly to its visual and spatial qualities.
More recently, I have developed a series of embossed prints derived from elements of the paper cuts. Using a printing press, images are impressed into the paper surface, creating subtle shifts of depth through raised and recessed areas. These works continue my exploration of pattern, repetition, and the transformation of everyday forms through process and material.
