Gerard McDonagh | Patroclus in Purgatory

£150.00
Photogravure From Collage
Edition of 10
Dimensions (WxH): 32.5 x 46cm

Gerard McDonagh is a London-based artist/printmaker working primarily within intaglio printmaking traditions, but not restricted by them. His practice uses traditional and contemporary techniques and tools to draw in influences from across a broad spectrum of culture. The work moves between printmaking, image-making and the wider visual noise of the present. The work often starts with things that already carry weight: music, myth, photographs, headlines, symbols and familiar images pulled out of their usual place. He is interested in how older print processes can still deal with the new and the old, and how human imagination connects to the here and now.
