Eloise Lifton explores memory and stillness with personal domestic narratives. Lifton’s work seeks to navigate the liminality between comfort and discomfort within domestic scenes. Through quiet reflection and observation, snapshots become visceral faded memories. Creating a temporal permanence to moments and sensations we can not grasp.
Lifton’s series of prints ‘Onlookers’ utilise the recurring motif of the fly to interrogate stillness, temporality and observation, this series expands further on her ongoing ‘Fly on the Wall’ installation. In the ‘Onlookers’ Series ‘Will you wait for me?’ Lifton utilises transparent ink and smooth tonal gradients within the screenprint process. Layers of ink become symbolic of layers of recollection and memory.
She graduated from the University of The West of England with an MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking, from which she received the Agassi Book Arts Prize.
Lifton has exhibited throughout the UK and since 2024, notably exhibiting at The RWA, RBSA and Bankside Gallery. Her work is held in the CFPR archives.
