Hannah’s approach to Art is rooted in human connection to place & natural materiality. Her work is underpinned by her deep love of landscape and flora. The starting point is always ‘en plein air’, making close observational sketches, often from an unusual perspective. As we live through climatic, personal and environmental flux, we are constantly on the edge of change. Perhaps we see continuity, yet we know there is transience throughout the minutia and the magnitude of each place experienced. Water meeting land, ecological layers of botanical life, horizons & shifting skies.
Hannah’s printmaking is an expression of her dedication to the ecologists & artists who focused on the celebration & preservation of the natural world. She explores a language of superimposition in which the innate interconnection between colour, tone and texture begin to communicate a deep symbiotic relationship between light and shadow, growth and decay. She aims to make work which captures moments of transition. The fringe, shore, cusp and contour are literal and metaphoric edges of life. Threads of generations of life, ever present in natural and human history.
Hannah is a long-experienced Teacher of Art & she has recently completed an MA in Multidisciplinary printmaking, gaining distinction.
