Iris Jingyi Zeng’s work explores the fragile traces between human presence, landscape and material memory through printmaking, analogue photography and image-based processes.
Working from lived experience, Zeng is interested in how images hold unstable relations between visibility and disappearance. Their practice often begins with overlooked details in natural or urban spaces, treating the image as a site where time, erosion and perception can be materially reworked.
The submitted work I Will Trace It Again, begins with an abandoned fencing deep in the forest. As the plate is eroded, the image becomes fragile and partial, reflecting how human marks persist while being obscured and absorbed by the wilderness.
The submitted work I Was Still Holding the Branch emerges from repeated walking and lingering within forest, while the relationship between body and landscape begins to loosen. The image appears from perceptual delay, shaped by layers of time and the material process.
Zeng graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2025 with an MA in Fine Arts Photography, and from Glasgow School of Art in 2022 with an MDes in Communication Design.
Zeng has exhibited across the UK, Europe, and beyond. Highlights includes AMADEUS Festival Vienna 2026, KYOTOGRAPHIE 2026, PhotoMonth London 2025.
