Lucrees van Groningen | Hotwater Bottle & Rolling Pin

£125.00
Three Colour Gumbichromate Print Over Palladium Print
Edition of 20
Dimensions (WxH): 39 x 51cm

Through gum bichromate printing, Lucrees van Groningen creates still lifes from ordinary domestic objects. Her work explores how a slow, hand-made photographic process can shift attention towards the familiar and the often overlooked. Domestic Still Life is a series of gum bichromate prints based on everyday objects such as bottles, packaging and kitchen utensils. The work draws on the still-life tradition while using a photographic process that is built by hand in multiple layers of pigment. The slow, material nature of gum printing introduces subtle variations from print to print and allows familiar objects to be seen outside their usual, functional context. Van Groningen holds an MA in Art History from Leiden University, the Netherlands. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad, including Long Live Rembrandt at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (2019).
