Dimensions (WxH): 60 x 45cm

For Here to Stay and Veduta Taverna - Marina Trani is an artist based in London. She was born in Italy and spent most of her professional life as a scientist. Marina then moved to the UK and in 2021 transitioned from being a scientist to becoming a full time artist. To support this change, Marina attained a Fine Art BA degree and is attending the second year of a master program in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin University (UAL) in London. Working across painting, printing, installation, and animation, Marina's work often begins with things—objects, landscapes, and everyday encounters - that seem to exceed their functional role and suggest a latent vitality. These familiar entities are observed and reinterpreted as vessels through which connections emerge between past and present, and between personal and collective histories. For Counterpoint 1, 3, 6, 9 - Marina Trani and Arefe Hasheminasab are two multidisciplinary, London-based artists drawing deep inspiration from their respective home countries, Italy and Iran. In their collaborative project, Counterpoint, they present a collection of ten unique handprint collages. These encapsulate vibrant memories and dark realities, both affecting the artists in equal measure. The result is a fresh fusion and perspective.
