Peter Raby Buck is a printmaker whose work synthesises literary narrative, myth, and personal experience. Originally trained in Chemistry and Surface Science at the Universities of Nottingham and Bristol, he later developed his creative practice through the Art Academy, London, and the Oxford Printmakers’ Cooperative.
Driven by a desire to challenge established viewpoints, Raby Buck frequently inverts gender roles within existing narratives and subverts expected outcomes. His work also draws from personal reactions to literature and art, blending symbolic and surreal elements to reframe familiar stories.
To capture these complex atmospheres, Buck carefully matches his subjects with specialized processes—including sugar lift, spit bite, and shook aquatint—to achieve a signature texture and vitality.
As a member of the Oxford Printmakers’ Cooperative, he exhibits regularly across Oxford and London. His recent exhibition history includes the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers’ Small But Mighty at Bankside Gallery, the Oxford Art Society Open Exhibition, the Fen Ditton Gallery Open Call (2026), and the Printmakers’ Council’s Green and Pleasant Land (2026).
