Rebecca Strabo was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and currently lives in Seattle, Washington. She is a self-taught artist and began printmaking in 2016 at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle. Rebecca is a lover of the natural world and the environment. Her work explores the interplay between the observed world and the imagined landscapes of the mind, inviting the viewer into her imaginary world. Rebecca is drawn to expansive, borderless spaces, and seeks to combine reality and the illusionary in her prints. Using landscapes as a vehicle into the imagination, Rebecca seeks to connect these inner and outer worlds. Her printmaking process involves building up multiple layers of etching ink and running each monotype through the press multiple times. Each finished print is unique and individual. The marks are made with a variety of tools such as rollers, toothpicks, and rags for wiping the plate.
