Having been brought up by parents who were both printmakers, Peter Hancocks and Joan Lock, Ben Hancocks cannot remember when he made his first print. However his first etchings were made in 1967 when he started at Grimsby School of Art aged 16 taught by his mother. With his new woodcuts he ha been using some of the Japanese Paper inherited from his mother. He has stated The focus of my recent work, is to try and express response my Polto the insanity of the present World. With the same sense of immediacy that is experienced with the carving of Romanesque Sculpture and also the making of early woodcuts.
