Zoë Duncan | Damaged

£240.00
Spitbite Etching On Damaged Metal
Edition of 25
Dimensions (WxH): 25 x 31cm

Zoë Duncan explores the impact of trauma, and the reality of living afterwards. Working with previously damaged materials, such as discarded and heavily scarred metal plates, she aims to highlight the beauty in the underpinning scars, and the reality of reconstructing meaning in a damaged life. She focuses on the layers we all live with, and the veil of isolation that trauma brings - using semi-sheer layers of fabric and handmade papers to build up her work. In acknowledging the traumatised, she seeks to offer connection, lift the veil where possible, and function as an act of witness. Her emotionally resonant, richly layered work offers a quiet strength and intentional stillness.
