Maikel Domínguez is a Cuban-American visual artist based in Miami. His practice moves between painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and jewelry, exploring memory, identity, desire, faith, and the emotional charge of the male figure. Influenced by personal history, exile, spiritual rituals, and classical iconography, his work often approaches the image as an intimate object of power, where vulnerability and devotion coexist. In printmaking, Domínguez is particularly interested in the physical and ritual qualities of the process: the pressure of the press, the mark of the plate, and the tension between control and accident. His works on paper extend the symbolic language of his larger practice, transforming intimate experiences into images that feel both personal and archetypal.
