Catherine Greenwood (née Atkinson, b.1968, England) is a Sussex-based printmaker specialising in etching, lithography and monotype. Her work explores the relationship between landscape, ecology and place, drawing inspiration from wetlands, coastlines, ancient sites and rewilded habitats, including the White Storks at Knepp Estate. Through observation, walking and field research, she investigates how light, weather and seasonal change shape our experience of the landscape. Catherine studied at Camberwell School of Art, Kent Institute of Art & Design and the UMaine, USA, where she contributed to research into environmentally responsible printmaking. She was a Printmaking Fellow at City and Guilds of London Art School in 2019 and teaches etching at independent print studios across southern England, promoting sustainable printmaking methods. Travel and collaboration continue to inform her practice. As a member of the Wilderness Art Collective and through international residencies, including Zea Mays Printmaking (2024), she continues to develop her research into green etching. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, The Houses of Parliament and recently with Sussex Contemporary and the Guildford Open. She received an Arts Council England Year of the Artist Award (2000) and was shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize.
