Intaglio Print Edition of 15 Dimensions (WxH): 40 x 40cm
Jane Denton's work explores the detail and beauty to be found in botanical study. Combining intaglio techniques such as etching, aquatint and carborundum, she brings to life flora and fauna, often when they have passed the stage of ebullient full bloom but still display a wealth of elegant detail, character and beauty. The crease, wrinkle or twist of a drying leaf is celebrated. Jane's submissions for Imprint 2026 include Hydrangea, Cardoon and Hostas. In each case, the etching lines tell a story of aging, development and softly changing form, while the aquatint adds atmosphere and tone. All submission were created within the last 3 years using hard-ground line etchings on zinc plates. Jane is a largely self-taught printmaker, who over the last five years has been inspired by and encouraged by Ali Yanya ARE in printing workshops in Hertfordshire. Her work 'Cardoon' was chosen and exhibited in the 2024 RBSA Print Prize in Birmingham, and she has had works selected on two occasions for the Southbank Printmakers’ mini-print competition in London.
