Margaret Tuffy is an Irish multi-media art practitioner with an extensive career spanning over the past 33 years. She was born in 1941 in Ireland and attended the Technical University of Dublin as a mature student between 1984 to 1988 where she acquired her formal training in painting and print. She explores themes which act as the spring board for a myriad of subject matters present in her pieces. These vary between images, whether that be breath, nature or autobiographical insights. Each exhibition starts with a print which is an essential catalyst that names the theme of the multi-media work which follows. For example, the defining prints, Kite Girl, Bearing Gifts and Pink Balloon explored the theme of breath seen in her 2010 exhibition Precious Breath. In a similar manner, this theme also inspired her upcoming exhibition which focuses on diving.
